A. Broad spectrum UV blockers
- Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine (bemotrizinol) – One of the best-known sunscreen agents today in the market. Broad spectrum filter, which does not penetrate the skin due to its large size and has a biphasic peak of protection (UVA and UVB)
- Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate (Uvinul A plus) - It is a broad-spectrum (covers the whole UVB and UVA range, 280-400 nm) chemical sunscreen agent with peak protections at about 310 and 345 nm and unlike older UV filters, it's very photostable. It hardly deteriorates in the presence of UV light and it's also useful in stabilizing other less stable sunscreen agents It gives sun protection in the whole UVA range (320-400 nm) with peak protection at 354nm.
- Homosalate specifically absorbs short-wave UVB rays, which are associated with DNA damage and increased risk of skin cancer. It's a chemical sunscreen that shields the skin from sun exposure by absorbing UV light and converting it to heat so that it can't cause DNA damage to the skin cells. Also helps in stabilising the sunscreen formulation.
B. Barrier repair and restoration
Ceramides 3 NP – the outer layer of our skin (Stratum Corneum) has a brick-and-mortar structure. In this the mortar is made of ceramides. It is the goofy stuff that holds the skin cells together and prevents water loss and dehydration of the skin. It plays a very vital role in maintaining the skin barrier.
Out of these Ceramide III is a produced by a patented bio fermentation technique, which helps in renewal of the skin’s natural barrier and are identical to human cells thereby making it an ideal component for skincare products for hydration and skin repair in the long term. It is an excellent barrier building ingredient which helps to maintain the integrity of the skin barrier.
C. Moisture Ban
Allantoin – this is a potent moisturizing agent used to treat dry, rough, scaly, itchy skin. It can soften the outer (keratin) layer of the skin so that the outer dead cells can shed off thereby exposing soft, radiant, bouncy clean skin underneath.
